Jacques was one of the founders of the Guild of the city of Dordrecht in 1642.
he moved to The Hague, where he became a member of the guild in 1646.
In 1649, ihe married Maria van Goyen, the daughter of the painter Jan van Goyen.
He moved another time to Leiden, where he joined the Guild in 1651.
His son Adriaen de Greyff (1657-1715) was a painter like him.
