Liesbeth was a student at the Rotterdam Nautical Academy, where Jacob was a teacher. Besides that, she was the girlfriend of the guitarist of the BV Band, who happened to be one of Jacob's other pupils.
Liesbeth has never posed for Jacob other than for snapshots, but her sister Wieke was a professional photographer and gave him some pictures to work from.
