Willem de Famars Testas was the first dutch egyptologue. He took part in an expedition (1858 -1860) in Egypte with his distant nephew Florent Prisse , family of the orientalist Emile Prisse d'Avesnes (1807-1879).(WFT) During that expedition Willem made a vast number of sketches and water colours.
After his return in Holland, he continued producing his oriental paintings.
His works are in the possession of several museums.(WFT)
