Master sign of Quirinus van Cleynhoven, to be found on pottery, made between 1655-1697.

Some sources mention Quirinus van Cleynhoven as the founder of the fanous pottery workshop of 'Delftware' also called 'Delft Blue' pottery. He probably wasn't the founder of this still existing factory "De Porceleyne Fles". The first 'master' of this workshop was David Anthonisz van der Pieth (1653-1655). But already after two years Quirinus van Cleynhoven took over the factory and reigned more than 40 years long (1655-1697), laying a solid foundation for at least 350 years of prosperity.
Works by Cleynhoven are rare. Here are some contemporay examples of Delft Blue pottery and Cleynhoven's master sign.

Quirinus van Cleynhoven was closely related to the Hasius-family, which in its turn was closely linked to Jan van Goyen, Jan Steen and Rembrandt (van Rijn).
