The family of the artist Caspar Netscher, who worked at The Hague in the 17th century, and his wife Margaretha Godijn isn't really related to the other families, mentioned in the family tree of this presentation.
Nevertheless, both families Godijn and Netscher form a sort of 'glue' between different branches which will marry much later.
For instance:
Rembrandt makes part of the family of Jacob's, grandmother (fathers side), while the painter Gerrit de Hoogh is an ancestor of his grandfather (also father's side).
His grandmother and grandfather marry in 1907, therewith establishing a formal family tie and between Rembrandt and De Hoogh.
But already in 1676, Casparus Netscher and Margaretha Godijn, witness the baptism of Margaritha, daughter of de Gerrit de Hoogh. One could suppose that at that occasion, the little girl gets the first name of Margaretha Godijn.
In 1675 the same Caspar Netscher is a witness in a dispute between Gerard van Uylenburg and a certain Jean Géricot. Gerard van Uylenburg was the uncle of Rembrandt's spouse, Saskia van Uylenburg.
So, the couple Godijn-Netscher witness events in the 'De Hoogh' family as well as in 'Rembrandt''s family some 230 years before the marriage of Jacob's grandparents will officially link the two families 'De Hoogh' and 'Rembrandt'.
Another example: Caspar Netscher was Daniël Haringh's professor, who (at his turn) was a member of Vincent van Gogh's and Mondrian's family!
Yet another example: In 1699, and Johan de Baen and Miss Willemijn de Baen (he is an artist in The Hague) witness the baptism of Johan Willem Barnards, son of Melchior Barnards, the brother of Frederik Barnards, a direct ancestor of Jacob.
Johan de Baen was the professor of Denys Godijn. Denys Godijn was also a pupil of Jan Lievens. Jan Lievens and Rembrandt worked together at numerous occasions.
Michiel Godijn, at his turn, was a pupil of Daniël Haringh, mentioned above.
